Citicoline is chemically identical to CDP-choline, a compound naturally produced by the body as a precursor to critical plasma membrane phospholipids. Citicoline also serves as a choline donor for the synthesis of the key parasympathetic neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is crucial for learning and memory formation. Scientific research has proven citicoline to have neuroprotective properties and to be effective at encouraging endogenous neurorepair.* It has been proven efficacious for supporting memory, encouraging brain recovery, and promoting improved vision.*
Uridine is one of the five standard nucleosides that make up nucleic acids – the biopolymers that form all human life. Pyrimidine nucleosides such as uridine are paramount for mitochondrial function, catecholamine-synthesis, and glutamatergic transmission in the brain, evidencing the importance of uridine for cognitive health. Uridine also acts as a precursor to brain phosphatidylcholine, a major source of choline in the production of acetylcholine. Several studies have observed that uridine supplementation improves memory function and learning ability and positively affects mood and well-being.* There is also some evidence suggesting uridine can slow brain atrophy and improve measures of cognitive decline associated with ageing.*
DL-phenylalanine, also known as DLPA, is a racemic mixture of the essential amino acid L-phenylalanine and its pharmacologically active enantiomer D-phenylalanine. The body cannot produce L-phenylalanine, but it’s a critical amino acid. DLPA supplementation has been used to support mood, attention, pain management.* DLPA has been shown to be effective at supporting stress resistance and energy levels.* In the human body, phenylalanine-hydroxylase converts phenylalanine to tyrosine, a precursor for the critical neurotransmitters adrenaline, noradrenaline, and dopamine. DLPA has been administered to support mood in individuals with low noradrenaline.* Supplementation has also shown phenylalanine to contribute to cognitive improvement, though the mechanism is not yet completely understood in humans. In healthy adults, DL-Phenylalanine has been shown to improve concentration, focus, and motivation, alongside maintaining a good mood and promoting calmness.*
L-Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid that is metabolised to make dopamine. Dopamine is thought to be associated with motivation, reward and pleasurable feelings.*
The original Zenergize contained extended-release caffeine, but some customers complained that it interfered with sleep if taken after lunchtime. Therefore, we took your feedback on board and switched the time-release caffeine for rapid-acting, ensuring it provides you with an additional boost earlier in the day. Caffeine works by binding to adenosine, a compound that is thought to regulate the sleep cycle.* Studies have found that caffeine may support cognitive function and feelings of mental alertness, mood, and arousal.*
L-theanine is a compound found in green tea, black tea and some mushrooms. Some studies have suggested it may help to support calm energy, mitigating the physical arousal associated with caffeine.*
Panax ginseng is an adaptogenic root native to the mountains of Eastern Asia. It is claimed to have been used traditionally for thousands of years to promote energy and support resistance to stress.*
Rhodiola is an adaptogenic herb, hailing from cold mountainous regions throughout the Northern Hemisphere. Studies have suggested it may help to support resistance to stress.*
Guarana is a natural caffeine-rich fruit resembling an eyeball, indigenous to the Amazon basin. Native Amazonian tribes have reportedly used guarana to support wakefulness, as well as for its alleged aphrodisiac qualities.* A 17th century Jesuit missionary is said to have noted that guarana gave members of an Amazon tribe “so much energy, that when hunting, they could go from one day to the next without feeling hungry.”*
I've been using this product for around a month now and I've been really impressed. I'd been suffering brainfog, lethargy and a general loss of joie de vivre due to either a bad cold or Covid. This product has me back on point again; even colleagues have commented that I have more energy and focus and the communications I've issued have illicited several compliments. Based on this experience, I can see me being a repeat customer.
I will be honest, these are not proving to be as significant as ZEN1 or Lemello. My insomnia has become worse, but it’s unclear as to whether that’s directly attributed to Zenergise or not. I will be happy to review again in 6 weeks time
Taking both zen1 and zenergize provided me with excellent concentration and focus throughout completing my degree. I feel sharp and clear without feeling jittery, and even improve my outlook on life, giving me a boost of serotonin whenever I need it.
Zenergize®
